Concordat and University Research Strategy

The Concordat is a set of principles designed to ensure support for the professional development of research staff.  The University of Manchester has signed up to the Concordat and has agreed to pro-actively foster and support its aims.  An overview of this document and its history can be found on the Concordat section of the Vitae website. Vitae are the implementation body of the Concordat and make sure universities who have signed up have an implementation plan.  Manchester has received the associated award from Vitae regarding this implementation and as such is committed to the principles of the Concordat.  You can read the university’s concordat implementation plan outlining how it is currently implemented and plans to further action it in the future.  The Concordat also features in the university’s research strategy found on the main research website. Research staff may wish to be familiar with the Concordat, its implementation, and the university’s research strategy to help appreciate what their expectations of the university and its staff should be toward their professional development.  Note also that many grant applications (for internal or external funding) have professional development sections and references to the Concordat can be helpful.
