Email, Listservs, and Staff Contact Lists

Email Access

You should be registered with a username and password when you join as a staff member at the university.  The university uses an online Microsoft Outlook webmail system for access to email via the web.  You can log in from the front page (shown below).

Email Listservs

General lists we have and why you would use

them as research staff

There are three main lists we’re aware of that are useful for research staff (let us know if we’ve missed any):- ATMOS-SCI — This is the Centre for Atmospheric Science’s (CAS) mailing list used for general internal work-related emails EPS-CAS-SOCIAL — This is the CAS mailing list used for social emails (e.g. meals out etc.) SEAES-STAFF — This is the mailing list which goes to all SEAES staff from both Williamson and Simon buildings.

To join

Technically you should automatically be added to these lists as a new research staff member if the list managers become aware of you.  In the event that you’re not, then you’ll need to contact the appropriate person for a particular list:- ATMOS-SCI and EPS-CAS-SOCIAL — Email Julie Samson  SEAES-STAFF — Send the email request to both  Julie Samson (Simon) and Gemma Coleman (Williamson) (Note, if you want to formally create your own listserv in the university, fill out this form)

To post

Once registered on the list, send an email using that registered email address to the desired address below for all members on the list to receive a copy.  If you try to mail to a list using an address not registered (e.g. some other Gmail account you have) then it will fail and you’ll be notified. ATMOS-SCI: ATMOS-SCI@listserv.manchester.ac.uk EPS-CAS-SOCIAL: EPS-CAS- SOCIAL@listserv.manchester.ac.uk SEAES-STAFF: Only Julie / Gemma can post to this more formal listserv, so you’ll need to contact them first.  It’s also possible for the Staff and Student support help desk to send emails to this list on your behalf.

Staff Contact Lists

The SEAES staff list can be found on the SEAES school website.  [If you wish to add/delete/move staff names on the new SEAES website, you can make a request to Gemma Coleman (or Lynne Davies).]  There is also a printable internal list available for CAS staff which Julie manages; contact Christopher if you want a copy.  A printable list does not exist for staff in Williamson.
