Maternity / Paternity, Parental, and Adoption Leave
If you are going to require this kind of leave, in the first instance you’ll need to let your line manager know as well as HR (email HRServices@manchester.ac.uk). Ideally, you should do this at least 15 weeks before the time you hope to be away. There’ll be some forms to fill in as well (we’ve linked to some common forms below, but always use any forms HR send instead once you’ve contacted them just in case they’re more up to date). The university has documentation which provides full instructions and they can be found on the Leave and working arrangements section of Staffnet.Additionally, the HR website has a section called “AskHR” which is essentially a search function allowing you to find answers to common questions. If you enter “maternity leave” or equivalent as your search criteria, then you may find answers to specific questions you have about this kind of leave in the context of your position as a postdoc researcher. If you are unable to find the answer you are looking for, you may wish to contact HR directly using the above email.
